Instructions for use
Substrate preparation:
Substrate must be dry (wood with less than 12% moisture content), clean, free of dust and grease, and prepared according to the rules of the trade.
If necessary, clean with BIOFA 0500 thinner.
Remove old paint.
Degrease woods with a high tannin content (tropical woods, oak, etc.) with alcohol and allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
Sand furniture with 240-grit sandpaper and floors with 120-grit sandpaper.
Substrate temperature must be at least 16°C.
Follow BIOFA 2100 technical data sheet for terra cotta tiles.
Underfloor heating: heat for 3 days, switch off 24 hours before treatment, switch on again 72 hours after last treatment (increase by 5°C per day, max. temperature 30°C).
Application:
Stir well before use.
Apply a thin, even coat with a brush or, preferably, a lint-free cloth. After 30-60 minutes, spread or blot up any excess oil that has not penetrated.
After 60 minutes, go over with a green or beige pad, or sand with 120/150 grain when completely dry.
Caution: excess oil creates a sticky, shiny surface that does not dry thoroughly. Test beforehand.
Never pour the product onto a surface, as the edges of any stains cannot be removed by sanding.
Standing wood absorbs more oil and darkens more; use very thin coats. Depending on the cut of light woods (maple, ash, etc.), there are places where the oil will darken the wood more.
Sponge off any oil that has not penetrated the terracotta tiles.
Important: during application and drying, ensure good ventilation and air circulation.
Do not treat the inside of furniture, drawers, etc.,
Spray application: 1.5 to 1.7 mm nozzle, pressure 2.50 to 3.0 bar. Airless: 0.23 to 0.28 mm, pressure 4 bar. Adjustment according to available equipment.
Finishing:
Floors should be treated with BIOFA 2044 universal hard oil, BIOFA 2050/2051 varnish or BIOFA 2060/2061 hard wax.
Furniture should be treated with the same products or covering lacquers.
Mineral floors should be finished with BIOFA 2100 STONE OIL.
Cleaning equipment:
BIOFA 0500 thinner immediately after use.
The thinner can be reused after a few days.
Drying
Sand and recoat after 8-16 hours (20°C / 50-55% humidity).
After this time, surfaces can be finished.
After oiling, lacquering or waxing, use floors gently.
Intensive use after 7-10 days.
For cork substrates, a longer drying time is required.
Low temperatures, excessive air or substrate humidity, exotic species and cork may extend drying time.
