The practical yield depends on various factors, such as the structure of the substrate, the condition and shape of
the object, the application method, the experience of the applicator, as well as atmospheric conditions.
Substrate conditions
General:
For long-term remediation, it is important to identify and remedy the causes of mould formation.
Eliminate any mould, avoiding the spread of spores. Then, if necessary, treat surfaces with an authorized active product.
Take the necessary precautions (e.
g. protective gloves and goggles, mask, etc.).
New (untreated) substrates
Must be sufficiently bonded, dry (green indication on protimeter) and clean, until a sound substrate is obtained.
For mineral substrates max. 4% moisture content. For gypsum-based substrates max. 1%.
Finishing on insufficiently dry and hardened substrates may cause clogging (due to alkaline efflorescence).
Carry out repairs using lime-free products such as Sigma Enduit Exempt de Chaux.
Pre-treat powdery substrates with Sigmafix Universal (dilution according to substrate, see data sheet 8205).
Pre-treat very absorbent or irregularly absorbent substrates with Sigma Wallprim or Sigmacryl Prim Opaque.
For further information on pre-treating and/or fixing walls, see data sheet FI1333.
Old water-based substrates
Adherent, sound, clean with ammonia water and then allow to dry thoroughly.
Old alkyd paints
Adherent, sound, clean with ammonia water and then allow to dry thoroughly.
Remove alkyd paints by matt sanding.
